On Wednesday, Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi won the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas, taking home $10 million and a much sought-after bracelet.
As the first player to win both the $50K WSOP Poker Players Championship (PPSC) and the Main Event in the same year, Mizrachi's triumph completed an unprecedented and unlikely run. This is the second time Mizrachi has won the PPC and advanced to the WSOP Main Event final table in the same year, and it is considered the greatest accomplishment in the sport. (He also achieved it in 2010, placing fifth in the Main Event of that year.)
Due to the significance of his achievement, Mizrachi was admitted into the WSOP Hall of Fame without the customary vote procedure as soon as he won.
John Wasnock, a strong opponent who put up a brave fight but lost to a vicious cooler in the last hand, was overpowered by Mizrachi's aggressive yet strategic play, particularly in the closing hands.
Mizrachi used the huge inexpensive lead he started the day with to aggressively eliminate important players early, including Kenny Hallaert and Braxton Dunaway in only the first two hands, in the final table, which was webcast on PokerGO with an hour's delay.
Mizrachi called as Wasnock raised to five million chips from the button in the final hand. Both players checked on a flop that read A♠, 9♣, 7♣. With a roar from his rail, Mizrachi raised to 30 million chips after Wasnock bet 10 million chips and Mizrachi checked on a 4♣ turn.
Mizrachi called after Wasnock shoved all-in for 70.5 million.
Mizrachi displayed a 10♣, 3♣ for a flush, while Wasnock displayed an A♣, 9♦ (red) for two top pairs. With the river having no effect, Mizrachi emerged victorious in 2025, leaving Wasnock in second place for $6 million.
With 9,735 participants, the $10K No-Limit Hold'em World Championship had the third-largest prize pool in WSOP history, totaling $90,535,500.
Leo Margets finished eighth for $1.5 million, making her the first woman to make it to the Main Event final table since 1995.
